Georgia woman charged in roadside death of man assisting car
A Georgia woman faces several misdemeanor charges in the roadside death of a Georgia State Defense Force volunteer who was assisting a disabled vehicle.
News outlets report the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Courtney McClellan of Kennesaw was arrested Friday after her car struck 52-year-old Mark Strow’s SUV, causing it to collide with him.
The sheriff’s office says Strow, of Alpharetta, pulled his SUV behind a disabled car that was located in the third lane from the right on Interstate 75. He activated his vehicle’s white strobe lights and was wearing a reflective vest.
Strow was pronounced dead at the scene.
McClellan’s charges include following too closely, speeding, seatbelt violation and second-degree vehicular homicide. She posted an over $10,000 bond Friday. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
